Vivian Ruiz

Vivian N. Ruiz joined the Office of the General Counsel (OGC) as Assistant General Counsel of Immigration in late May 2022.  Previously, she was Assistant Director of the Office of International Scholars (ISchO) at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) for sixteen and half years.  She headed the International Faculty and Scholars Unit as Immigration Specialist at Washington State University for 6 years.  Prior to her academic immigration compliance career, she was a solo practitioner in Houston, Texas concentrating on Immigration, Family and Probate Law. While in law school, she interned in the U.S. Immigration Court in Houston. Additionally, Vivian worked as a law clerk for a Civil District Judge and as a Paralegal at prestigious law firms in Houston.  Prior to attending law school, she worked in Retail Management and as Spanish and English as a Second Language Instructor.
